2016 McLaren 540C Design Price Review
2016 McLaren 540C Review2016 McLaren 540C Design Price Review- McLaren held a coming-out party before the New York auto show, exhibiting the 570S in all of its glittering goodness to a crowd of media and releasing a considerable amount of information, most of which is included in our full coverage of the 570S here. But while the drooling crowd was trying to collect itself after the sheet came off, we had a quick chat with Jamie Corstorphine, McLaren’s global marketing director, about the Sports Series model that is not going to be in New York, the entry-level 540 Club, or 540C in brief conversation.
2016 McLaren 540C Design
On the outside, 2016 McLaren 540C does not significantly different from the already unveiled 570S. It sports the same "designed by air", P1 -style front fascia, and the brand’s dihedral doors with "floating tendons". In the back view, we can see the same flying buttresses and teardrop-shaped rear glass for improved aerodynamics, large taillights, and the unique apron that incorporates side-mounted exhausts and a sexy diffuser. However, there are few details part that available on 540C that more powerfull than 570S. The interior of the Sports Series has been created with a focus on space and ergonomics, offering great outward visibility and interior space for occupants and their belongings. Organic curves carried inside from the exterior design bring delicate tension without aggression to ensure the cabin remains a welcoming environment.

Inside the cabin, the 540C Coupé is luxuriously appointed with leather upholstery to the seats, dashboard and lower doors as standard. The 'floating' centre console features a seven-inch IRIS touchscreen which controls all elements of the infotainment system. The air conditioning controls are also incorporated, as first seen on the McLaren P1, minimising switchgear in the cabin. The touchscreen also controls the standard DAB digital radio, as well as satellite navigation, Bluetooth telephony and media streaming, voice activation and the audio media player. The IRIS system also includes the electronic owner's manual. These McLaren Sport Series supercars also have more luxury-minded interiors, with extensive use of leather and an improved system of infotainment.
2016 McLaren 540C Engine
2016 McLaren 540C takes its model designation from its metric engine output of 540 PS (533 horsepower) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft), figures that are just behind those of the 570S, which gets 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft from its version of the shared 3.8-L twin-turbo V-8. Just like we can see on the 570S, the 540C’s mid-mounted engine is bolted to a sequential seven-speed transmission. According to its manufacturer, the 540C is 0.3-second behind its more powerful sibling in the sprint from zero to 62 mph, getting it done in 3.5 seconds, while hustling to 124 mph in 10.5 seconds. And whereas the 570S is good for 204 mph, the 540C just misses the descriptor “200-mph supercar” with its top speed of 199 mph.

2016 McLaren 540C Price
The McLaren 540C starts at $165,000 and could be different depend on the type, a good $19,000 cheaper than the 570S. Though U.S. customers cannot yet place orders for the 540C, the quoted price in U.S. dollars means that chances are high for the 540C to come stateside in the near future. U.S. orders are open for the McLaren 570S which is scheduled to arrive in late 2015 and early 2016. In other global markets, the 540C is said to begin delivery sometime in 2016.
